Our approach to a sustainable way of doing business

Being responsible and contributing to the world is part of our DNA

As a responsible company rooted in love and respect, we consider it our most important task to operate our business in a way that is both responsible and profitable. And we don't believe that these two things are mutually exclusive.

Contributing to the world and to society is a fundamental part of Kaerly's philosophy. And we will continue to find new ways to create a more loving and positive world.

Our Design Philosophy

Rooted in Denmark, our design language is timeless and long-lasting, inspired by Danish design traditions and Scandinavian simplicity. Our design philosophy is built principles that incorporates both past traditions and new movements in Danish design, combining high-quality products with a responsible mindset.

At Kaerly we see timeless design and durable quality as a responsible alternative to the modern throw-away culture. Our products are designed and crafted to be used and bring daily joy for many years reducing the need for frequent replacements and disposal.

However, great design and long-lasting quality is not enough. Our products must also bring genuine value to our customers. To do this, they must serve a real purpose and be truly useful.

Meaningful products supporting daily needs

We are aware that producing new furniture is stressful to our planet, but we also recognize that living their lifes people have a need for interior products supporting daily needs.

As a value driven company, we constantly strive to offer a meaningful assortment of long-lasting furniture and interior products that are produced in the most responsible way with least possible impact and under good and regulated conditions.

Consideration and balanced decision-making

Honestly, there is much greenwashing and hot air, when it comes to sustainability and responsible production.

Therefore, we carefully consider, for example, the materials we use when we produce our own furniture, and we spend a lot of time talking to our various manufacturers and understanding the production processes. It is all about balanced decision-making and being open to new innovative materials and methods of production. We know that we will never be perfect, but each day we get a bit better.

When it comes to materials, we are both conscious and critical of the materials we use for our products. We are eager to use natural materials and open to recycled materials, whenever it is meaningful. We also use responsibly forested FSC-certified wood whenever possible. When it comes to animal welfare, we have made a fundamental decision not to offer genuine leather. Although leather is a durable material, we think there are many good alternatives that match our philosophy better. Again, it is all about making balanced decisions.

We also aim to reduce waste in our production process. This can be achieved by using recycled materials, designing for disassembly and recycling, and minimizing the use of non-renewable resources.

Furthermore, we strive to adopt a circular design approach that promotes the reuse and recycling of materials, and we aim to provide products that can be easily disassembled, repaired and recycled.

Local Anchoring. Global Vision.

In the furniture market the supply chain is complex. However, we aim to source and produce products locally to reduce transportation emissions and support local communities. Our goal is that all our own Kaerly products and more than 90% of our entire assortment are produced in the EU.

Using European manufacturers, we are safer in terms of both the environment and working conditions, and we reduce emission from transportation.

However, we are not dogmatic. If a furniture part or a textile from, for example, Vietnam is best in class or if a small holistic carpet manufacturer in India can produce top quality carpets under proper conditions, we are willing to trade globally.

Social Responsibility

Kaerly must ensure that its production process is socially responsible, including fair labor practices, good working conditions, and ethical sourcing.

The Sales and After Care Processes

One thing is the production chain and our products. Another is the purchase situation itself. In our Studios we support our design philosophy in various ways. We inspire to responsible consumption, and we take our time helping our customers make the right choices and thereby reducing the risk of mispurchases. We also extend the life of our products by providing easily accessible maintenance instructions and advice on general care and treatment.
